Legends of Might and Magic Playable Demo Receives 50,000 Downloads at www.3doeurope.com

3DO Europe announced today that the two-level playable demo of its eagerly-awaited PC multi-player release, Legends of Might and Magic, due to be published on 29th June, has received a staggering 50,000 individual downloads from www.3doeurope.com.

Forged by world-famous gamesmith New World Computing, Legends of Might and Magic takes the strong steel of Might and Magic and tempers it with state-of-the-art 3D gameplay to provide a razor-sharp multi-player gaming experience never before seen in the Might and Magic kingdom.

The jewel in the scabbard of this gleaming blade is its multi-player design from the ground up. With Internet and LAN prowess for up to 16 players, budding Legends can choose to play either Deathmatch mode or fight in Team vs. Team mode on the side of Good or Evil and, in any given scenario, must work together with their team-mates to complete their objective before the other team completes theirs. In most cases the objectives directly oppose each other, but some scenarios have both teams pursuing the same goal. Furthermore, a random adventure generator will ensure unlimited replayability.

The warrior wielding this mighty weapon is the powerful Lithtech™ 3D game engine. Developed by Monolith, this young steed ensures the slick animation and in-game graphics run ferociously fast and free across superbly rendered battlefields. Through swamps, forests, castles and dungeons players will become completely engaged in an unparalleled, ultra realistic 3D kingdom.

In addition to the human-controlled teams, many scenarios will include native monsters that will attempt to stand in the way of opposing forces, or ally their strength with a losing team to further challenge the stronger team. Six different scenario types have been included (such as Rescue the Princess, Slay the Dragon and Find the Holy Grail), but multiple scenarios within each type will offer many variations on any specific theme.

Each of these scenarios will be staged in incredibly detailed landscapes, from the Perilous Peaks of Varn to the Dwarf Mines of Xeen, from the Dungeons and Temples of Enroth to the war-torn lands of Erathia. Each round of gameplay will take five to ten minutes to complete, but the rewards gained by winning a round (or in some cases just surviving) will carry over to the next, allowing players to develop their characters and upgrade their equipment as each objective is completed.

The two-level Legends of Might and Magic 'first look' playable demo is available for download at www.3doeurope.com. Internet play will be via www.gamespy.com.
